hihih im very sorry for the super late reply ! most of my page is customized using a frankenstein mix of html, markdown, and LaTeX, for github, i recommend learning markdown first, heres a guide - https://docs.github.com/en/get-started/writing-on-github/getting-started-with-writing-and-formatting-on-github/basic-writing-and-formatting-syntax also i reccomend baby-level html - https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/html/html-cheat-sheet/ it can seem a little scary, but honestly when it comes to github readme's the images matter more than the code. i've seen people make awesome layouts using only <img> tags with nothing else. my layout itself is like 60% images too lololol
